While waiting to find out what your business needs are or will need after the COVID 19 outbreak, let us focus on the opportunities available that we can tap into now.
What about writing that proposal or marketing plan that exist at the end of your electronic files? Could you reopen that file?
What about that email you submitted to a client or the thank you letter you forgot to write for all the businesses and projects you’ve received from a partner?
Where are all your client files and profiles kept?
Do you have current contact, address, telephone numbers? Have their services changed? Do you know who to call?
Now is the time to organize all the data you have stored in your mind and make it work for you. Also, while we are at that, let’s look at your finances and where we can get help with the resources available remotely. In this section, I have outlined some areas to make it easier for you to start your search and organization. Remote Project Management (RemotePM) is also available to help you reorganize your projects.
1. Grant Funding available for small business
Why grant funding? Grant funding is FREE money. You must ask for it by writing a proposal which meets the requirement of the grant. Do you have a compelling story or justification that will benefit your community or improve your small business? Write a proposal or let us help you write THAT proposal.

2. Pennsylvania Small business structure and taxes – Pennsylvania small business one-stop-shop provides needed resources for starting and sustaining a small business. Why do small business fail? Lack of planning and organization.
3. Remote Training available – FREE
There are hundreds of FREE online resources available to improve your small business during this down time. Here is a list of my top five areas:
a. Your local library offers online free tutorials on “How to”, some offer LinkedIn learning
b. Lynda.com
c. Code academy
d. Professional organizations FREE training, Example; Project Management Institute
e. FREE University online classes – Pick any university, search your topic, register for the FREE class, add certificate to your resume or business knowledge area.
4. Marketing proposals

SCORE provides confidential business advice through their network of volunteer business experts. SCORE is a nonprofit resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). SCORE Mentor website have different templates on business planning and live coaches to revamp your business or give expert advice FREE of charge
5. Website revamp and reorganization
The all-important YouTube! – It may seem like a place with loads of casual video and an overload of “how to”, but there are some very relevant contents, trainings and ideas for your business today. The search field is your friend. Use it to learn how to develop content
6. Rebranding
This is where we make our money, by standing out. Nobody is going to communicate your Brand like you. You may tell them your vision, but it is ultimately up to you to confirm their interpretation of that vision. Start now while you have a lot of time on your hands.
We can take the time spent online viewing how to and DIY videos and invest it in seeking opportunities for your business to thrive. The following is a list of organizations helping with small business funding:
a. U.S Small business Administration Grant- Access to Capital
b. The Facebook Small Business Grants Program
c. Grants.gov – Apply for different types of grants, in many different fields.
We often hear the phase, “Hindsight is 2020” - Well, hindsight is here now. What are you going to do about it?
Let the future be the judge of how you spend your creative time and idle longings. Be productive. The resources are available, and you have everything you need to be exactly who or what you want.
